Greens’ hypocrisy on forests

Posted on

The Greens’ latest hypocrisy on forests – they want us to abide by the so-called “peace deal” that they opposed.

Christine Milne, Peg Putt, Peter McGlone, and Dr Bob Brown all opposed the job-destroying forest deal.

Yet, now they say the 400,000 hectares of production forest locked up under the dodgy deal is somehow sacrosanct because of the deal they opposed.

Only Nick McKim and Cassy O’Connor voted for it –but then immediately exposed their true intent by opposing harvesting in Lapoinya, which was agreed as production forest as part of the deal.
This is typical of the Greens – they change their position like the wind.

They currently claim to support plantations – but it’s not long ago they were opposed to plantations and labelled them as ‘chemical-soaked monocultures’.

In the end, their one big policy objective remains – to shut down the industry. So there can be no mistake, they have put this objective on the record in Parliament.

If the fate of the industry was left up to the Greens, the cost would be thousands of jobs in rural and regional areas – to join the 4,000 jobs destroyed as a result of the TFA.
