Tasmania shines at 2016 ACSA National Summit
Aged & Community Services Australia CEO Pat Sparrow has praised the Tasmanian community and the State’s aged care sector, after more than 700 aged care industry leaders from across the nation attended the 2016 ACSA National Summit in Hobart this week.
“The Tasmanian people and sector have been wonderful hosts and I have been thoroughly impressed with the level of innovation showcased by providers in this State,” Ms Sparrow said.
“Tasmania is unique in so many ways, and it has been invaluable for organisations from other states to hear some of the challenges faced by aged care providers down here.”
The Summit is projected to have contributed around $2.3 million into the local economy and is the largest aged care event in Tasmania for a decade.
“People have taken the opportunity provided by the Summit to discuss the reality of the challenges facing our sector and how service providers can continue to thrive in this ever-changing environment,” Ms Sparrow said.
“It’s been fantastic also to see some of our elected representatives involved in the Summit and really contributing to the conversation.
“The theme this year was ‘Choose to Thrive’ and I’m confident our delegates will leave Hobart inspired and ready to take charge of their organisations’ futures.
“In 2017, the ACSA National Summit is heading to Cairns and we’re looking to build on the success of this year’s event.
“It has been a week full of thought-provoking discussion about our industry and the health and wellbeing of the people we serve.”
The Summit formalities will wrap up today with post-event workshops focusing on Disruption and Leadership, as well site tours of local aged care facilities Glenview Community Services and Huon Eldercare.
