MyState New Norfolk was an easy sell for Lyn
MyState has appointed Lyn Sell as bank manager at its New Norfolk branch to improve services for local customers, a month after a ‘big four’ bank announced it would be moving out of the Derwent Valley.
The appointment has been welcomed by business and community leaders, including Derwent Valley Mayor Martyn Evans.
Mayor Evans voiced his frustration last month when it was announced ANZ were closing their New Norfolk branch, urging the community to support the local businesses who invest back into the community.
“We want to support businesses who are here to help the local residents, assist our local businesses to grow and will go the extra mile for their customers,” said Mayor Evans.
“We are a community that has and always will help each other out when needed and we really appreciate businesses demonstrating a similar community-based spirit.”
Recently appointed New Norfolk bank manager Lyn Sell says she is passionate about helping customers and residents achieve their dreams and she is looking forward to bringing that passion to the Derwent Valley.
“Since coming to New Norfolk, I am constantly delighted by how close the residents are, and how much they support each other,” Lyn said.
“You only have to look at the recent floods to see how the community banded together through a challenging time.
“I jumped at the chance to come and work in New Norfolk for that very reason, it is such a friendly community and my team and I want to show that friendship through our services by going out of our way to help the people of the Derwent Valley.”
Helping others is something that comes naturally to Lyn. Lyn set up and coordinates a MyState baking team for Ronald McDonald House in Hobart, and has been an active supporter and fundraiser for local charities, community groups and sporting clubs.
Today, MyState will show residents of the Derwent Valley that community spirit with a free community event and BBQ.
“We want to show New Norfolk that we’re here for them,” said Lyn.
“Children are on school holidays and many of our local families are looking for activities to keep the kids entertained, so MyState will be putting on a free community event from 10am – 2pm today.
“We thought it would be a good opportunity to get out and meet the Derwent Valley community and share the products MyState has to offer to assist residents and businesses.
“During the day we will have a special visit from Captain Hurricane, face painters and a free BBQ at our branch at 45 High Street, New Norfolk.”
MyState is now the only bank in the Derwent Valley open from 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
