A Letter to the Editor on Pauline Hanson …

Posted on

Dear Editor,

I can only assume that if George Christensen and Pauline Hanson had been speaking two hundred years ago they would have said, ‘Australia is being swamped by the British”

Speaking for all to hear from her protected senatorial locus this part of Senator Hanson’s insightful opening address to Parliament well may have read;

“It is about belonging, respect and commitment to fight for Australia. This will never be traded or given up for the mantras of diversity or tolerance. Australia had a national identity before White, Anglo, Protestant people arrived here, and it had nothing to do with diversity and everything to do with belonging.”

And further;

“Tolerance has to be shown by those who come to this country for a new way of life. If you are not prepared to become part of the Aboriginal Nation and give this country your undivided loyalty, obey our laws, respect our culture and way of life, then I suggest you go back where you came from. If it would be any help, I will take you to your sailing ship and wave you goodbye with sincere best wishes.”

Just as pertinent is the shared wisdom of Senator Christensen’s speech, “It is not necessary to travel half way around the world to come to Australia and demand that Indigenous people change their culture, their society and their laws to match those of their former homeland.”

Although as their speeches made clear at least we bought with us the indubitable blessings of our Christian Civilisation.

History, I fear, reveals us for what we are.
