2016 CENSUS MIXED MESSAGES AND CONFUSION CONTINUES
Tasmanians continue to experience stress and anxiety surrounding the 2016 Census.
The Turnbull Government has failed to communicate to the public a coherent message regarding Census 2016.
Many members of the public are feeling distressed and now do not know when the Census must be completed by after the Turnbull Government stated that Census will occur next Tuesday night the 9th of August, or can be completed across a two week period.
The Turnbull Government has turned a national survey, which is rather simple into a complicated and shambolic mess.
Members of the public are concerned they will not be able to access the Census, due to firstly, their 12 digit ID number not arriving in the post in time for Tuesday night, secondly a paper version not arriving in regional areas and thirdly concern surrounding the privacy of their personal information.
My office will continue to work with the public and inform them regarding the best way to complete the Census in a timely fashion.
I encourage Mr Turnbull and his Liberal colleagues to articulate to the public a clear and coherent message to the public around Census in order to allay current anxiety and stress amongst Tasmanians.
