Letters to the Editor: 8 Weeks of rhetoric and promises …

Posted on

… let’s now see the real substance behind the promises

After a long protracted run up to the Election I think we have all seen the promises and name calling of other parties (including the Coalition).

Let’s now see Mr Turnball keep to his pledges, he has no excuses as he was in Government prior to the Election and would know the true extent to this Country’s Debt.

He said he would not Privatise Medicare, but I heard little about the funding for Medicare, so does this mean doctor’s charges will become expensive, and other specialist charges, or that medication will go up in price?

I heard very little about those on basic pensions and how he would help those people?

Nor did I hear how he would keep down the charges for basic services, Electricity , water etc.

The same applies for local Government and Councils who see fit to raise rates at any chance they can.

It is time that the top echelon started to reel in the cost of Government and Local Government.

If a MP or Councillor can retire on$300,000 – 500,000 per year they sure as heck do not need to have overseas trips and other jollies thrown in on top of huge pensions.

Mr Turnball just gave away a million dollars, he is filthy rich even before he gets the extra perks and high pension.

If he has any spare cash chuck me $30,000 as a gift?

No I didn’t think so, it’s like the saying “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”.

It is good to see some of the Independents bringing sense into Parliament.

It is alright to say they will create jobs, but it is apprenticeships that are needed in the areas that future industries require.

Solar Energy, Nuclear energy, Geothermal, Dams and rail links etc. etc..

Control our offshore payments (Aid) to places like Indonesia, we need that money here.

Get rid of all those so called refugees (yes we know the ones that pay to get here), send them to recognised camps in Thailand etc. and take those who have been processed
and are bone fide refugees.

Pay attention to what has happened in France, Belgium, even Muslim countries like Turkey.

We are a Christian country and do accept those prepared to integrate but not those who come and demand their laws (Sharia) and say death to non believers.

It is not racist to keep those people out of our Country, WAKE up to what is happening before it is too late.

I think for most seniors and Pensioners we are concerned and saddened to see how this great Country with all it’s resources appears to be copying the mistakes that overseas countries are paying the price for now.

Very concerned.
