Exciting Times for Epilepsy Tasmania as Wendy Groot comes on board

Posted on

Epilepsy Tasmania is pleased to announce the appointment of Wendy
Groot to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

After five years in the role of Chief Executive Officer for Mental Health Carers Tasmania,
Wendy brings innovation and passion to Epilepsy Tasmania as she helps it transition to
a new era under the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

“I’m looking forward to new challenges and opportunities and I plan to put a Tasmanian
spotlight on the neurological condition that is epilepsy,” said Ms Groot.

“One in 10 of us will experience a seizure, and one in 25 of us will develop epilepsy at
some point during our life. That’s over 20,000 Tasmanians!

“It’s a common condition, but it’s one that remains largely hidden and stigmatised. My
new role provides an opportunity for me to change that situation within Tasmania.”
