The Hobart Town Hall Organ & the City Organists 1870-2000

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Hobart Town Hall, the City of Hobart’s Senior Cultural Heritage Officer, Brendan Lennard, will present an illustrated exploration of the Town Hall’s grand concert organ, based on the lives of the eight City Organists … the famous, the obscure, the virtuous and the guilty.
This talk, which complements the September talk, “Municipal Magnificence” by architect and author, Peter Freeman, is based on the first comprehensive study of the City Organists and their contribution to the musical life of the city.
