KETTERING YACHT CLUB CELEBRATES END OF SEASON WITH NEW LIFE MEMBER

The annual Kettering Yacht Club presentation evening and dinner was held on Saturday April 17th at the Oyster Cove Inn in Kettering. The 2015 – 2016 sailing season concluded with Channel Discovery Race, a fun race which started off Kettering and involved yachts sailing, navigating and sending crew ashore at Woodbridge to complete a run before returning back to the finish line off Kettering.

The Commodore, Andrew Fyfe presented the awards “it’s been a tremendous season on the water, we’ve experienced all sailing conditions and some great competition”, he said

In Division 1, Talofa (R. Cawthorn) had a great season winning the Winter Series, Twilight Series (after Christmas) and Icebreaker Series. Ripper (T. Lagden) took out both the Green Island Classic and Channel Challenge Classic. Solquest (G. Wigston) won the Division 2, Twilight Series (After Christmas and Combined). Ubique (C. Brealey) had a great season racing in Division 3 winning the Twilight Series (Before Christmas and Combined). Aurora (M. Croxton).

Finlay Cooper accepted the Dutchy Neville Icebreaker Classic Trophy on behalf of Borderline (Andrew Fyfe)

Mick Burrows (Rear Commodore) received the honour of Life Membership in recognition of his considerable and long running commitment to the Club. Suzie Tierney was recognised for her outstanding service to the Club.
