Energy update

Posted on

Through our Energy Supply Plan the Government is doing everything necessary to maintain energy security.
Last week’s rain resulted in welcome inflows into most Hydro catchments. Hydro’s water levels today are at 14.6 per cent, a reduction of 0.2 per cent over the last week.
Basslink has advised that repair work has begun and will continue subject to suitable weather conditions. There has been no change to Basslink’s previously advised return to service date of late May.
The Energy Supply Plan continues to be rolled out with the first 100 MW of diesel generation progressively coming online. Hydro Tasmania has advised it is on track to have 100 MW of temporary diesel generation available by the end of March and 200 MW by the end of April.
Diesel generation began at Catagunya on 11 March and is operating at around its full capacity of 24 MW. Work is on schedule to roll out temporary diesel generation at Meadowbank, George Town, Port Latta and Que River.
Hydro Tasmania and the Government will continue to provide regular updates on the Energy Supply Plan as the situation evolves. Tasmanians can be assured we will do everything necessary to maintain energy security.
