Tenders called for C cell siteworks to ensure July completion

Posted on

Southern Waste Solutions have taken the next step towards the construction of the $6 m. Copping C cell, calling for tenders for the initial earthworks phase of the project.

The window for submissions opens tomorrow, Saturday, 13 February and closes Thursday, 3 March with the successful tenderer expected to be notified during the week ending 11 March.

Southern Waste Solutions CEO Christine Bell said it is pleasing the Copping C cell is proceeding according to schedule. The project has been assisted by a $2m commitment made by the State Government in late December.

“We can now get on with the task of providing Tasmania with a much needed facility to safely and responsibly store its legacy hazardous waste,” said Ms Bell.

“If we are to maintain our clean, green image and continue to broadcast to the world how beautiful and pristine Tasmania is, we must be responsible for the waste we produce and the C cell will help us achieve this.”

Once initial earthworks are complete, tenders for the supply and installation of the cell liners will be called in April with completion of the project scheduled by July.
