Employment at record high

Posted on

The Tasmanian Government’s number one priority is jobs and the latest ABS figures show employment is at record levels.

Figures release by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today show that employment is continuing to grow, 100 new jobs in November taking Tasmanian employment to record levels with 241 900, exceeding pre-GFC employment levels in October 2008.

The November figures show that 7100 Tasmanians have found work since we came to office in March 2014.

Tasmania’s 6.4 per cent unemployment rate is lower than Western Australia and South Australia.

The rate is also 1 per cent lower than it was at the election.

These are encouraging signs but there is more we can and are doing, that’s why we are investing $315 million in a jobs package and $1.8 billion in an infrastructure package.
