WILKIE TO QUESTION PM ON TASMANIAN HEALTH FUNDING
The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, has asked the Prime Minister the following in Question Time today.
“Prime Minister in 2012 the Federal Government agreed to a $325m health funding boost for Tasmania to patch up the health system and put it on a more sustainable footing.
“But that money runs out next year, so our health services and consumers will be set back badly unless follow-on funding is forthcoming.
“Prime Minister, will you commit to a new funding package, and when do you expect to be able to announce the details?”
Mr Wilkie secured the $325m funding package in mid-2012 after convincing then Prime Minister Julia Gillard, and Health Minister Tanya Plibersek, of the disadvantage Tasmania endures when it comes to the delivery of health services.
