Tasmanian Planning Scheme a step closer
The TFGA would like to congratulate both houses of parliament for passing the legislation to establish the State’s first Tasmanian Planning Scheme.
TFGA President Wayne Johnston said that the result was great news for Tasmanian farmers.
“Planning issues have been an on-going constraint to the State’s rural sector for many years. This decision will ultimately remove excessive red tape for our farmers and assist in the expansion of agricultural production in Tasmania.”
He said that the result was a culmination of an extensive consultation period with the TFGA and other stakeholders, including the Local Government Association, the HIA and Master Builders Tasmania.
The TFGA looks forward to working closely with the State Government and local councils to ensure a smooth and seamless transition to the new statewide scheme.
