Regional jobs figures shows long-term Plan working right around the State
The ABS regional job figures released today show that under the Hodgman Liberal Government’s long-term Plan, jobs are being created right around the State.
Since the election, 800 jobs have been created in the North, while 3,400 jobs have been created in the North-West. The North now boasts the lowest unemployment rate of any region in Tasmania at just 6.2 per cent, which has declined from a rate of nearly eight per cent just a year ago.
Over the last year alone, 3,100 jobs have been created in the South and the unemployment rate is down well over half a per cent.
These are all clear signs that Tasmania is now heading in the right direction. However, there is still a lot more work to do, that’s why we announced a $315 million jobs package and a $1.8 billion infrastructure plan in the budget.
