Employment figures solid but what’s the Government’s vision?
Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon has welcomed today’s ABS employment figures.
“Labor welcomes today’s employment statistics which see a stable unemployment rate and an increase in full-time and total jobs,”Mr Bacon said.
“Labor will always talk up positive economic news.
“Key industries like agriculture, aquaculture and tourism continue to underpin Tasmania’s economy.
“The strategic investment decisions of previous governments have allowed the state’s economy to become more resilient.
“But Labor has concerns that the Liberal Government is not prepared to identify and take advantage of the next big economic opportunity.
“Treasurer Peter Gutwein focussed on the past rather than the future in a speech to an economic conference in Melbourne last week.
“The Treasurer praised achievements of previous governments but failed to outline a vision for the future.”
