Criticism of Petrusma’s privatisation plan grows
Anglicare has confirmed that it does not support the Government’s plan to transfer the titles of 500 public housing properties.
Shadow Human Services Minister Rebecca White said it’s increasingly clear that the Liberals’ plan is not based on evidence.
“Jacquie Petrusma has failed to provide any evidence to support giving away 500 public housing properties to the private sector,” Ms White said.
“The strong statement from Anglicare, along with a similar sentiment from Colony 47 confirms there is not unanimous support in the community sector for the Minister’s privatisation agenda.
“We asked the Minister during Question Time this week to name the providers who support the transfer of title and she failed to address the question. In fact we believe the Minister deliberately misled the House to cover the cracks appearing in her plan.
“We know the privatisation policy was rushed, ill-considered and not based on evidence.”
