Artists with Conviction Exhibition opens

Posted on

The 2015 Artists with Conviction exhibition is being officially opened at the Moonah Arts Centre this evening.

Artists with Conviction is open to all Tasmanian Prison Service prisoners as well as those on Community Corrections orders.

It is a chance for prisoners and community corrections clients to take part in a creative activity and showcase their talents.

This is the fifth consecutive year the Artists with Conviction exhibition has been held. The theme of this year’s exhibition is ” Picture Health”.

A competition for the best artworks will be held in categories including the Minister’s Award, People’s Choice Award, Painting, works on paper, audio/visual, object design and sculpture.

Once again, the calibre of the works presented in this year’s exhibition is outstanding and is a credit to the artists and the correctional staff members, sponsors and volunteers who have made the event possible.

I encourage members of the public to take the opportunity to see the exhibition, which in previous years has been seen by more than 1200 members of the public.

The exhibition is running from Saturday 21 November until Saturday 5 December. Entry is free.

The Artists with Conviction Exhibition is being officially opened at 6.00pm tonight at the Moonah Arts Centre.
