TasTAFE’s successful year
The value of TasTAFE in helping to create more job-ready Tasmanians has been highlighted in its annual report.
It has been a successful year for TasTAFE, its board, staff and students. The annual report highlights that over the past financial year 28,841 students enrolled in TasTAFE across the state.
Those students gained skills in 370 qualifications, with the largest enrolments in Health and Community Services, Building and Construction, General Education and Business and Financial Services.
Over the past year the majority of students, 55.8 per cent, were studying at Certificate III or higher.
TasTAFE also has 918 offshore enrolments, delivering international qualifications at the Australian College in Kuwait, Genting-Star Tourism Academy, Manilla, and Bangde Vocational College in Shanghai.
TasTAFE already has strong ties with China, and I hope over the coming year this will only continue to strengthen as does our state’s friendship with our largest trading partner.
An independent survey conducted this year, detailed in the annual report, shows the high regard that TasTAFE students are held and the satisfaction of students.
The survey found that 90 per cent of employers agree that TasTAFE graduates are highly valued in their business. It also found that the overall student satisfaction rate was 84 per cent, almost on par with TasTAFE’s target of exceeding 85 per cent.
I commend TasTAFE on another successful year in providing vocational education and training that ensures Tasmanians are job-ready and businesses have the people with the skills they need to grow and create more jobs.
