Mental Health Week Events Commence Across Tasmania
This week right across Tasmania mental health is a hot topic of conversation. From Queenstown to
Eaglehawk Neck there are people working hard to raise awareness and get the message out that
‘Mental Health Begins with Me.’
In keeping with the state-wide theme, at events across the state people are making their personal
promise to improve their mental health via promise walls, banners and online via the national
website www.1010.org.au
“This week is just the start of the conversation every Tasmanian should have with their friends and
family about mental health. We all need to find a way to build resilience and adopt strategies to stay
mentally healthy. We also need to make sure that people know that if they aren’t travelling so well
there is plenty of support out there. No one should be afraid to seek help when they need it,” said
Mental Health Council of Tasmania CEO, Connie Digolis.
Mental Health Week is part of a national mental health promotion campaign that is held in October
each year to engage people from the community in discussions on how to manage their own mental
health.
