Meaningful recognition for profound loss

Posted on

Labor Member for Denison Madeleine Ogilvie has welcomed the progression of Recognition of Loss Certificates.

“As someone who has experienced the loss of a baby, my heart goes out to all the mums and dads who have experienced a similar loss,” Ms Ogilvie said.

“To lose a baby can be not only be a profound loss but may also be an isolating and overwhelming experience.

“This year’s Bears of Hope remembrance day was the official launch of certificates of recognition that will hopefully go some way towards making things just a little more bearable. Whatever we can do to improve the grief journey, we should do.

“I understand that I am in a unique position to try to support positive change, to help build understanding around infant death and miscarriage. That is why I have supported and continue to support the superb work of Maria Bond of Bears of Hope.

“I am impressed with the collaborative and sensible manner in which my parliamentary colleagues have worked across boundaries. I thank the Attorney-General for responding to our request for certificates of recognition, because recognition matters.”
