It’s a McHappy Day for fundraising

Posted on

I am excited to be donning a McHappy Day hat today to have some fun and assist at McDonald’s Sandy Bay Restaurant as part of the 2015 McHappy Day fundraising campaign for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). RMHC provides invaluable assistance to families with seriously ill children and I am proud to offer my assistance today to support RMHC.

McDonald’s Restaurants across the country will be a hub of activity today for McHappy Day, as the crew transform their restaurants with plenty of fun activities that make the day a joyful community event.
Across Australia, myself and a number of other celebrities will be helping out to raise awareness and funds to reach a McHappy Day fundraising goal of more than $3.4 million this year. This would equate to providing over 25,000 nights of accommodation at Ronald McDonald House for families with seriously ill children.

Now in its 25th year, McHappy Day is the biggest event on the RMHC calendar and has raised over $28 million to date. Funds have been utilised for projects such as building new Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, Ronald McDonald Family Retreats and providing more resources for the Ronald McDonald Learning Program.

“When families first find out that their child has a serious illness a lot of things go through their mind, and for those families who have to attend a hospital hundreds of kilometres away from their home the Ronald McDonald Houses are there to not only provide a warm and inviting home away from home, but somewhere where they can keep their family together and not have to worry about where they are staying each night,” said Alice Gilbertson, licensee of McDonald’s Sandy Bay.

There are donation buckets in all McDonald’s stores and $2 from every Big Mac sold today will go to RMHC.
