Corporate governance scholarships to help Tasmanian women get on board
The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to increasing the number of women on boards as a critical step to improving democratic governance.
The Government has a target of achieving 50 per cent representation of women across Tasmanian Government boards and committees by July 2020.
The revised Women on Boards Strategy 2015-20 puts a stronger emphasis and greater accountability on the Tasmanian Government and the Tasmanian State Service to lead by example and appoint more women to board positions.
To help achieve this, the Government is partnering with the Australian Institute of Company Directors to offer corporate governance education course scholarships.
Scholarships will be awarded over the next three years with the aim of increasing the number of Tasmanian women who have the skills to serve on boards.
In the first year, the following scholarships will be offered:
• Three Company Director Course (CDC) scholarships
• Sixteen Foundations of Directorship (FOD) scholarships
Applications will close COB Thursday 12 November 2015.
