Business Outlook shows Tasmania’s economy has turned the corner
The Hodgman Liberal Government’s number one priority is jobs.
Last week’s ABS statistics showed that more Tasmanians are in work than ever before, while our unemployment rate is now the same as the national average.
Since the March 2014 election 7200 jobs have been created.
Now the latest Deloitte Access Economics Business Outlook has given a positive report on the Tasmanian economy, saying “the economic pain of the past decade is . . . dissipating”.
Relative to other states, the Business Outlook says that “a range of economic indicators are showing some signs of relative life to what is being seen elsewhere in Australia” and adds “Tasmania is still a bright spot in Australia’s investment outlook”.
While challenges remain, and there is still a lot of work to do, Tasmania is clearly heading in the right direction under the majority Liberal Government.
In fact, the recent NAB Business Survey showed Tasmania has the highest levels of business confidence in the country.
The Liberal Government will continue to work hard to attract investment, grow the economy and create jobs.
Our long-term Plan for a brighter future is delivering for Tasmanians.
