FEDERAL Lyons MP Eric Hutchinson is delighted to welcome the national Spirit of Anzac Experience travelling exhibition to Northern Tasmania, the second of 23 locations nationally it will visit.
This afternoon, Mr Hutchinson accompanied the travelling exhibition’s executive director Brigadier Alison Creagh and Northern Midlands RSL sub branch president Geoff Leitch to the Perth Cenotaph to lay a wreath in memory of the veterans whose stories are told in the exhibition.
“This is a marvellous, once-in-a-lifetime exhibition which respects and remembers the contribution by local men and women who served their country during war and others who continue to serve today,” Mr Hutchinson said.
The Anzac Centenary national exhibition is the flagship community event to mark the centenary of Australia’s involvement in World War I.
It opens in Launceston at the Silverdome on Saturday and will run until the following Friday.
The exhibition is interactive and includes more than 200 artefacts usually housed at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, some of which have not been seen outside the war memorial before.
“It is wonderful that both that Launceston and Hobart have been included on the touring itinerary giving most Tasmanians the opportunity to see it,” Mr Hutchinson said.
The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience will be at Hobart’s Derwent Entertainment Centre from Wednesday, October 14 to Tuesday, October 20.
