Rockliff Should Protect Biosecurity

Posted on

Tasmania’s disease free status provides the backbone for an enviable food industry and the Liberals need to address the Biosecurity Tasmania funding shortfall immediately.

The CPSU’s survey revealed staff who feel overworked, undervalued, being subjected to bullying and discrimination and allegations of nepotism running rife through middle management.

Internal problems of this magnitude within an agency are crippling, and it will be primary producers who suffer.

The Liberals make promises galore to China, all while hacking away at the services required to ensure that produce remains at a premium level.

Without proper government resourcing and support, Biosecurity Tasmania will struggle to secure our food industry into the future.

Unfortunately, Minister Rockliff’s passion for Tasmania’s biosecurity seems to have disappeared as soon as he became responsible for it.
