Questions over Forestry Tasmania re-employing sacked staff
It has been revealed Forestry Tasmania staff who have been made redundant are now being re-employed as casuals to help cope with the approaching fire season.
“Resources Minister Paul Harriss has been left red faced over his decision to dramatically cut Forestry Tasmania’s workforce,” Mr Green said.
“Either Mr Harriss is unaware of the impact the job cuts are having on Forestry Tasmania or he is too embarrassed to admit it.
“Mr Harriss refused to answer questions or take responsibility for what is happening.
“It is a completely false economy to get rid of skilled staff and then re-employ them as casuals.
“It is further damning proof of Mr Harriss’ incompetence as a Minister.
“Mr Harriss told all the people working at Forestry Tasmania before the election their jobs would be safe and that’s come back to bite him.
“Now Mr Harriss is casualising the Forestry Tasmania workforce with the very same workers he let go.
“Questions remain over how many more former Forestry Tasmania staff will be re-employed as casuals.”
