Congratulations to Malcolm Turnbull on being elected leader of the Liberal Party of Australia, and the 29th Prime Minister of Australia.
Tony Abbott and his government made a significant contribution to Tasmania, for which we should be grateful.
Malcolm Turnbull brings great passion, commitment, experience and optimism to the job; optimism for our future that I share. Our best days are ahead of us.
I have enjoyed a very good working relationship with Malcolm Turnbull over many years, and I am excited at the prospect of working with the Prime Minister and his government to deliver even greater outcomes, and a brighter future, for Tasmania.
I look forward to welcoming our new Prime Minister to the state soon.
