Police Commissioner reappointed
The Government is pleased that Darren Hine has accepted an offer to continue as Tasmania’s Police Commissioner for the next five years.
Commissioner Hine is held in high regard in the law and justice community around the nation, particularly for his leadership in the community on key matters such as family violence and his strong commitment to enforcing public safety in Tasmania.
We look forward to him using the Liberal Government’s major enhancement of police numbers from 1120 to 1233 over this term of government to best effect.
Commissioner Hine also continues as the Secretary of the Department of Police and Emergency Management, one of Tasmania’s larger public sector agencies, responsible for 2000 employees and 5000 volunteers.
