The Minister for Primary Industries Jeremy Rockliff remains under fire for refusing to act on the funding crisis at Biosecurity Tasmania.

“Mr Rockliff will not commit to properly funding Biosecurity Tasmania because he won’t even acknowledge there is a problem,” Mr Llewellyn said.

“It has been established that Mr Rockliff was not aware of the crisis in his own department and what’s even worse he is now refusing to do anything about it.

“Other than going on a witch hunt into who leaked damning minutes from a senior Biosecurity management meeting highlighting the problem, Mr Rockliff is turning a blind eye to the crisis.

“Meanwhile, people working at Biosecurity Tasmania remain under enormous stress, the prospect of job cuts remains and our invaluable disease and pest free status is at risk.

“It is almost inconceivable that Mr Rockliff was not aware of the funding crisis and is yet another example of a dramatic breakdown in communication between Liberal Ministers and their senior departmental staff.

“Mr Rockliff clearly has no idea of how to address the crisis.”
