Launch of the 2016 Design Tasmania Award

The Hodgman Liberal Government is a strong supporter of Tasmania’s creative industries.

The 2016 Design Tasmania Awards are being launched in Hobart this evening.

The Design Tasmania Awards are an important way of acknowledging and celebrating the strength and diversity of Tasmania’s design sector.

The Design Tasmania Awards place a strong emphasis on sustainability in practice and aims to reward entrants who take an innovative approach to the unique challenges facing Tasmanian designers.

In partnership with the Hawthorn Football Club, the 2016 awards will feature a new category focused on innovation in design.

The Furnishing Our Future Award will encourage innovation in the sector by rewarding designers who take risks.

I congratulate Design Tasmania on this new partnership and commend the Hawthorn Football Club for supporting the continued development of Tasmania’s design sector.

The Design Tasmania Awards feature a total prize pool of $10,000, with entries accepted over four categories.
