Hemp guidelines a step closer
Tasmanian farmers have applauded the tabling of the Industrial Hemp Bill 2015 in State Parliament today.
TFGA CEO Peter Skillern said that the move would ensure the future of the industry in Tasmania.
“The TFGA has actively lobbied on behalf of the hemp industry for a number of years now. We have worked closely with the Government and other stakeholders to ensure that this Bill reflects the needs and concerns of growers,’’ he said.
“We welcome the government’s positive approach to the hemp industry. Our growers already have a strong reputation, but this will encourage them to make further investment in the sector; which in turn will help the State reach its goal of expanded agricultural production by 2050.”
