Confidence Grows
The latest TCCI Survey confirms growing confidence in the Tasmanian economy.
Tasmania is heading in the right direction and importantly the growing confidence is being felt across all three regions.
As with the recent NAB survey, Tasmanian businesses are more confident in the State economy than the Australian economy.
Since the Hodgman Liberal Government was election 6,200 new jobs have been created, there are now 241,000 people employed.
The unemployment rate has fallen to 6.5 percent, down from 1.0 percent from the election.
However, we still have work to do and that is why we are delivering a $315 million job creation package, including the $60 million Northern Cities Major Development. We’ve also invested in a $1.8 billion infrastructure package and are rolling out programs like our Buy Local campaign to drive retail spending and our Local Benefits Test that is helping more Tasmanian businesses win Government tenders.
