Community thanked
I wish to thank the community sector for the contribution they made to today’s meeting of Tasmanian stakeholders who are currently providing or likely to provide support to asylum seekers and refugees in response to the Syrian refugee crisis.
Tasmania stands ready to open our hearts and our doors to the victims of this appalling tragedy.
The talks about establishing a Safe Haven Hub in Tasmania were constructive. The Hub will operate as a first point of contact and provide ongoing support for Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) holders and refugees either residing in, or coming into, Tasmania to study or work. It will also support potential employers who wish to employ SHEV Holders and refugees.
A further meeting will be convened soon.
