The election of the General Management Committee (GMC) of the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT) has concluded for 2015, with the following members elected until July 2017.

Committee Members: North West and West Coast Electoral District (population < 20,000) Mayor Daryl Quilliam (Circular Head Council) North West and West Coast Electoral District (population >= 20,000) Mayor Jan Bonde (Central Coast Council) Northern Electoral District (population <20,000) Mayor Craig Perkins (Meander Valley Council) Northern Electoral District (population >= 20,000) Mayor Christina Holmdahl (West Tamar Council) Southern Electoral District (population < 20,000) Mayor Deirdre Flint (Central Highlands Council) Southern Electoral District (population >= 20,000)

Mayor Doug Chipman (Clarence City Council) The new members of GMC take up their appointment after the LGAT AGM on the 22 July.

The election of Vice President will take place at that time. Current Vice President, Mayor Daryl Quilliam will continue to act as President until that time. Under the Rules of the Association, if a new Vice President is elected, they will become Acting President until the election of a President is complete.

Following the sad passing of former President, Mayor Barry Jarvis, whose term was to be until 2017, the process for a presidential by-election has commenced.

Nominations for LGAT President close on Friday, 30 July 2015, with ballot material to be posted Tuesday, 4 August 2015.

The close of the postal ballot and declaration of result will take place on Tuesday, 8 September 2015. T
