Labor Leader Bryan Green has strongly backed Federal Labor’s target of 50 per cent renewable energy by 2030.
“This is a great show of leadership from Bill Shorten,” Mr Green said.
“Tasmania is perfectly placed to become a world leader in renewable energy technology and this announcement unlocks massive opportunities for our state.
“Private sector investment has been completely stifled by Tony Abbott’s archaic position on renewable energy development.
“The Prime Minister’s attitude toward wind energy in particular has been nothing short of embarrassing.
“We need a Federal government with vision.
“We used our reply this year’s Budget to unveil a plan to make Tasmania a leader in electric transport technology by harnessing our hydro power advantage.
“Bill Shorten’s renewable energy target fits perfectly with our vision to grow jobs in advanced manufacturing in Tasmania.”
