Hodgman falls silent on $2.1 billion

Posted on

Premier Will Hodgman has left the COAG leaders’ retreat empty handed despite Tasmanians being told he would demand Tony Abbott return the $2.1 billion ripped from health and education in the 2014/15 Federal Budget.

“Treasurer Peter Gutwein said Mr Hodgman would demand the money back and the Premier himself led people to believe that’s what he would do,” Labor Leader Bryan Green said.

“Yet Mr Hodgman has not said a word about the $2.1 billion following the retreat.

“Did Mr Hodgman even raise the issue with the Prime Minister?

“If so, what was Tony Abbott’s response?

“These are questions Tasmanians deserve answers to.

“It once again seems Mr Hodgman is all talk and no action.

“Did the Premier receive any guarantees from Tony Abbott about future funding partnerships?

“On returning to Tasmania, Will Hodgman has an obligation to put all the details on the table so Tasmanians can decide if his trip to COAG was a success or a failure.”
