Energy Minister Matthew Groom must immediately rule out any rise in power bills if TasNetworks scraps Tariff 41.
Labor Leader Bryan Green said the move follows the Liberals ripping $30 million from the energy business.
“The Liberals took $30 million from TasNetworks to prop up Forestry Tasmania, now they have a secret plan to put up power prices,” Mr Green said.
“This is Matthew Groom’s cold shower for Tasmanian households.
“Mr Groom must explain his clear broken promise to reduce power bills.
“Many households rely on Tariff 41 to keep themselves warm over the cold winter months.
“The removal of Tariff 41 would have a significant impact on the price of power for a lot of Tasmanian families.
“This plan would leave most households being charged under Tariff 31 which could mean dramatically higher power bills for Tasmanians.
“The Liberals have to explain what the cost will be for households if the Tariff is removed.”
