The Premier, Will Hodgman, has demonstrated his complete ignorance of the budget hoax perpetrated by his Treasurer that was used to justify the sacking of teachers and health workers.
Mr Hodgman promised before the election to only cut 500 jobs and protect frontline services.
It was established during Budget Estimates today that the GST forecasts that were used to break that promise were wildly inaccurate.
Treasury forecasts in the 2013-14 budget accurately predicted the increase in GST now described the Government as a “windfall.”
“The assumptions the Government used to break its promises were completely and utterly false,” Mr Green said.
“It is alarming that the Premier appeared completely oblivious to the fact the GST forecasts contained in the risks report and last year’s budget were wildly inaccurate.
“Mr Hodgman couldn’t say how much GST was forecast in the risks report, in last year’s budget or even in the 2015-16 Budget.
“Either the Premier was playing dumb or he was completely hoodwinked by the Treasurer.”
