Former World Heritage Area tour guide Nick McKim has once again being caught out trying to rewrite history.
Special Species Timber Harvesting was permitted in the TWWHA under the Labor-Green Government’s so-called Forest Peace Deal – a deal Nick McKim supported and voted for.
In fact, it was the intent of the Taylor amendments, which Mr McKim voted for, that Special Species harvesting should be permitted across the entire World Heritage Area.
In relation to mining, there has been no change whatsoever to the previous Government’s position or what is allowable under the current TWWHA Management Plan.
Mr McKim must explain why he voted for special species harvesting in the TWWHA when he was a Minister, but now opposes it.
Paul Harriss, Minister for Resources
