Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon today accused the Liberal Government of trying to hide further budget cuts in this year’s Budget.

“Peter Gutwein outlined $744.6 million in cuts last year but mention of them in the Budget has mysteriously disappeared,” Mr Bacon said.

“There is no doubt further cuts are planned over the term of this Government but they have been deleted from this year’s Budget.

“It is the height of arrogance for Mr Gutwein to ask Tasmanians as he did today to forget about the cuts in last year’s budget.

“Not only is Mr Gutwein refusing to acknowledge the impact these cuts have had on jobs and front line services, he is now trying to pretend there will be no more cuts.

“We know 400 jobs are still on the chopping block and there will be further cuts to essential services.

“Mr Gutwein’s claim the heavy lifting has been done are a joke because further budget cuts are locked into the budget.

“Mr Gutwenn is trying to mislead Tasmanians and its time he started telling the truth.”
