The Premier Will Hodgman continues to sit on his hands while millions of dollars promised to Tasmania’s tourism industry remains in limbo.
Shadow Tourism spokesman Scott Bacon said $4.3 million of funding had been sitting in Canberra for well over 12 months and still appeared a long way off.
“Mr Hodgman has shown absolutely no urgency to get the money rolled out to our tourism industry.
“The best Mr Hodgman can come up with is that he has written a letter to the Commonwealth asking for the funds allocated in last year’s Federal budget to be rolled over into next financial year.
Mr Hodgman should have been demanding the immediate release of the money.
“When repeatedly asked today what he had actually done to unlock the funding, Mr Hodgman sat silent.
“At the very least Mr Hodgman should be talking directly to his Liberal colleagues in Canberra.
“This is money specifically earmarked for our tourism sector, it is particularly important for regional areas and Mr Hodgman needs to lift his game to get it delivered as quickly as possible.”
