The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to reducing costs in areas like the Government vehicle fleet so that we can invest more in frontline services.
Since the election, we have reduced the size of the car fleet by five per cent, or 121 vehicles.
Our target was to save $1.5 million per year from operating costs. So far in the 12 months to March 2015, we’ve exceeded that target, saving close to $1.7 million.
Overall, the capital expenditure savings are well over $4 million.
We will continue to look at ways to save money in areas like this, so we can put the budget on a sustainable footing and invest more in health, education and public safety.
