On behalf of the Hodgman Liberal Government, I am pleases to announce John Ramsay has been appointed as Chair of the Forest Practices Authority.
John Ramsay brings a wealth of knowledge to the role with close to 30 years’ experience in public administration across a range of areas.
His vast experience includes being a past member of the Forest Practices Board, the previous Chair of the Environment Protection Authority and an independent reviewer of the 2nd Tasmanian Regional Forest Agreement.
John Ramsay’s appointment is for three years and he will take up the position from July 1 this year.
The term of five Directors on the FPA Board, including the Chair, expire at the end of June. A second selection panel, which includes Mr Ramsay, will consider the remaining four positions on the Board with the process to be completed in the near future.
I’s also like to record my appreciation to the outgoing Chair, Professor Gordon Duff, for his contribution to the Board over the past six years.
Professor Duff has been a strong advocate for Tasmania’s forest practices system and, in particular, has promoted a climate of continuous improvement within the industry.
Tasmania’s Forest Practices Authority is world class and is responsible for setting the Forest Practices Code, a set of guidelines and standards which balance protection of environmental values with forest operations.
Paul Harriss, Minister for Resources
