It’s time for the Health Minister to address allegations of rorting within his department.

Labor used parliament to reveal a senior communications employee was moved into a vacant role for just four weeks before receiving a redundancy payment.

Labor Leader Bryan Green said it’s time for answers.

“Michael Ferguson is hiding behind a review instead of being upfront with the public,” Mr Green said.

“It’s not good enough for the Minister to palm the matter off to the agency that signed off on the redundancy in the first place.

“Michael Ferguson’s response so far has been completely inadequate.

“His first response was to defend the payment, now he is hoping people just forget about it.

“We are talking about a significant amount of public money.

“Mr Ferguson needs to reveal whether this is an isolated incident or whether there is widespread rorting occurring across his department as a result of pressure to find savings.”
