The Government is on track to deliver its election promise and save $500,000 a year as a result of changes to its Ministerial Drivers Policy.

We have reduced the number of permanent driver numbers from 16 full time equivalents to 11.

From next month, some additional Ministers will have drivers allocated to them, primarily due to the fact that there is no driver pool based in the north.

To complement that, a casual pool of Ministerial Drivers has also been established, which will only be used when a permanent driver is unavailable.

The fact this is the best Mr Bacon can come up with shows just how much of policy-free zone Labor is.
