For the first time in Northern Tasmania, mental health consumers will have a regular opportunity to question and find out more about their Government Mental Health Services.
A series of quarterly forums will be held in Launceston throughout 2015, with the inaugural forum focusing on the Mental Health Act 2013. Andrew Adam, Acting Area Manager/Nursing Director Mental Health Services, Tasmanian Health Organisation – North will also update consumers on what is happening in Mental Health Services across Northern Tasmania.
Miranda Ashby, Executive Officer of Flourish, Mental Health Action In Our Hands Inc, is excited about the forum and explained that ‘Flourish and the Tasmanian Health Organisation – North are hosting the sessions in collaboration to ensure that consumers across Northern Tasmania have the opportunity to meet and discuss major issues with Mental Health Services staff. It is important that consumers are able to provide feedback and ask questions on the service they have received in a friendly environment’. Miranda further explained that ‘Flourish was about empowering mental health consumers and forums like this provide opportunities for increased empowerment for a traditionally vulnerable, disempowered and silent group in our community. She urged all mental health consumers in the North to come along or to send in a question via 0448 185 629 or firstname.lastname@example.org’.
This free forum will be held on Thursday 30th April 2015 from 1.00 – 3.00pm in Meeting Room 2, Northern Integrated Care Service (NICS) Frankland Street, LAUNCESTON. Afternoon tea will be provided.
