A damning review of a Voluntary Redundancy in the Department of Health and Human Services has revealed a senior employee was in a position for just two days prior to his redundancy process commencing.
Labor Leader Bryan Green said the Opposition will not allow the Government to sweep this issue under the carpet.
“The report released today would make very uncomfortable reading for the Premier and the Health Minister,” Mr Green said.
The review refers to the former Manager of Communications Services as Mr X.
The review’s report confirms Mr X was moved into a position that had been vacant for more than two years.
“Why was a vacant position revived and filled, only to be made redundant days later?,” Mr Green said.
The report details that Mr X was first offered a redundancy package on January 6 2015, which was subsequently turned down on January 28 2015 because it “was not an attractive package”.
Mr X transferred from his original position to the new role on February 10.
The business case for the redundancy was requested on February 12.
On February 24 he accepted the new offer.
“Was there a difference between the initial offer and the offer accepted on February 24?
“The Health Minister needs to provide more answers on this matter.
“Mr Ferguson’s answer during Question Time did not go near the substance of the issue.”
