The Liberal Government welcomes Vodafone’s new investment in Tasmania with the official opening today of their state of the art contact centre in Hobart.
This new contact centre is already occupying 250 new employees, and Vodafone has committed to at least 1,250 full time equivalent positions, injecting around $90 million into our economy each year.
Jobs are the number one priority for my Government, which is why payroll tax rebates will be provided on new positions for up to five years.
Along with the Australian Government’s provision of up to $4 million in support, this will enable Vodafone to more than double the current number of full time equivalent positions in their Tasmanian centre.
Vodafone’s confidence in Tasmania reflects what is now the highest rate of confidence business in the nation. There is a lot to be done, but we are heading in the right direction.
