Shadow Health Minister Rebecca White has welcomed the Liberal Government’s change of heart over breast cancer screening.
“It’s great news that the BreastScreen Mobile Unit will now visit St Marys and Bicheno,” Ms White said.
“This outcome is good news for the community and is an appropriate response to a high rate of breast cancer detection in St Marys in recent times.
“The East Coast community has lobbied hard to make sure they didn’t miss out on vital services and I was pleased to add my voice to the campaign.
“The Break O’Day Council is to be commended for its leadership on this issue and securing a good outcome for the region.
“Michael Ferguson tried to play politics around the issue in parliament this morning but for me this is simply about supporting my electorate.
“The evidence shows early detection saves lives and women in regional Tasmania deserve access to these types of services.”
